Zappos Acquired by Amazon

By Harry Klein - Posted on 22 July 2009

Today's Zappos/Amazon deal makes a lot of sense.

Tony Hsieh and Jeff Bezos are as passionate about taking care of customers and thinking long-term as you can find in any business. Can't wait to see what customer-facing innovations they come up with as partners.

I'm struck by Tony Shieh's brilliance as a communicator. His letter to employees provides keen insight into why Zappos employees are so passionate about their brand and extend that passion to their customers.

Don't miss the Jeff Bezos video toward the end of Tony's letter. He explains the role that Zappos' passionate commitment to customers played in making this deal a reality.
